Father Ryan High School
TFLTA is offering its first ever one-day summer workshop.
The Proof Is in the Portfolio: Teacher
Effectiveness and Student Growth through Proficiency-Based Learning
The stakes have never been
higher in teacher evaluation than today, especially in Tennessee. This workshop
will explore proficiency-based learning that addresses the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do
Statements and WorldReadiness Standards for Learning Languages. We will also
examine the peer-juried student growth portfolios being implemented in lieu of
standardized test scores. Come explore proficiency-based learning and this
exciting new method for evaluating teacher effectiveness and what steps you can
take to join the process. The Shelby County World Language program in Memphis,
TN is a state leader in proficiency-based learning. Take advantage of this
one-day workshop by three Shelby County teachers. This workshop is coordinated
and presented by Paul Jennemann, department chair at Whitehaven High School and
curriculum lead and lead portfolio reviewer for Shelby County schools, with the
help of Daphne Warren and Susan Satar from White Station High School.
The registration postmark deadline is June 5.
